Introduction to using Star Trackers”

Diamonds Camera, Sony Australia and Sky-Watcher Australia invite you to spend a night under the stars learning the fundamentals of Milky Way Nightscape Photography plus get a hands on experience using Star Trackers. Award winning Landscape Astrophotographer Will Godward will guide you through the best set up and settings to capture amazing Astro Nightscape images using Sky-Watcher Star Trackers in the field. This is a 5+ hour hands on session involving technical advice.

GOALS:

  • Capture the Milkyway core setting
  • Understand Camera settings for Astrophotography
  • Introduction to Star Tracking Mounts.
  • Capture the Moon Rising
  • Capture Sunset
  • Capture bioluminescence ( Dependent on location and chance )
  • Capture Aurora ( Dependent on solar activity )

Itinerary

Itinerary will be supplied closer to the event but will be roughly from about 5pm to late. Full Price includes: Red Nitecore NU 25 Headlamp, accommodation at the Bluff Resort, Breakfast, access to Sony equipment Brand Ambassadors and follow up Online Lightroom Editing Session with Will. (Note the Night only rate does not include Accomadation or Breakfast.

What To Bring?

Your camera fully charged (SONY Cameras can be loaned, but you will need an SD card), Fast/Wide Field lens; i.e 14-24mm range/ f4 or faster.

(Note: Sony lenses will be availble to loan). Please ensure you bring a sturdy tripod if you have one. If you have a shutter release and/or intervalometer we also recommend bringing it along.

As this is an outdoor night event, please ensure you wear comfortable/sturdy shoes and suitable attire to suit weather conditions.

Please note due to weather and access conditions substitutions may occur to any location or activity.

About Will:

Skywatcher Australia’s National Sales manager Will Godward is an international award winning nightscape astrophotographer from South Australia. His work has been featured by Australian Geographic, and NASA. Godward travels the Australian landscape, capturing famous landscape locations except at night. Encompassing the Milkyway Galaxy and other astronomical objects or events. With a goal to create a personal connection to the night sky and the majesty that they declare. His favourite style of shooting is taking large multilayer panoramas, capturing as much of the sky as possible.
